Super Red Arwana Population Increases

 

Breeding of super red arowana (Scleropages formosus) in Empangau Lake, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, is about to success. A total of 35 pieces of young arowana harvested by the locals from natural habitats for two months.

The average length of 5 centimeters young arowana breed to the protected lake recently. "Activity (Breeding)witnessed by local community for restocking," said Hermayani Putera, Manager of WWF Indonesia Programme of West Kalimantan.

This harvest confirmed will increase because of young arowana capture season lasts until April next year. As an illustration of some of the 192 young arowana harvested from  Empangau Lake citizens during 2004-2009, or an average of 32 young arowana are every year.
